MEET RAQUEL
Raquel Trujillo is a Spanish screenwriter, playwright, and actress based between Los Angeles, CA, and Spain.

She was born into a family of artists and has worked as a professional theater actress for over a decade. She earned a bachelor's degree in Film and Screen Media, and her thesis project, the adaptation of a novel into a TV series, was unanimously awarded with honors. She also studied film in London and, after graduation, she started training as a screenwriter and working in the Content Development Department of ViacomCBS International Studios (Paramount), first as a trainee in Spain and later as a creative assistant for the EMEAA (Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia) cluster, where she collaborated in developing TV series and films. She has recently graduated with an MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute.

Her feature comedy ABUELAS has been a semifinalist in screenwriting contests, including the Screencraft Comedy Competition and the Humanitas College Awards, and currently ranks in the top 4% on Coverfly, among other accolades. Her TV feel-good comedy, inspired by her own family and their theatre company, has been selected for the international Spanish Lab, IsLABentura 2025.
Raquel also co-wrote the AFI Thesis Project, FRANCIS, with director Kim Caicedo. The film premiered at AFI Fest 2024 and has been selected for various international festivals, like Lighthouse International Film Festival. It has been awarded the Directors Guild of America Student Award 2024.

Her first project as a playwright, THE LAST VERSE (adapted to the theatre from her original screenplay), premiered in Spain in 2023 and it's currently on tour.
Raquel aspires to tell stories that capture people’s hearts, that show the world as she sees it, complex but full of fun and exciting adventures. She is really interested in stories that portray the duality and nuances of family – in her opinion, one of the strongest relationships a person can experience. But above all, she aspires to tell stories that make audiences feel, forget, enjoy, and see life from a brighter perspective.
